There was just so much beauty about the ever so fascinating Russia. Getting on one of the most exotic trips of the world, the Expedition to the Pole of Cold was an experience of a lifetime. Along with other newlyweds, our tour group was one of the luckiest batches to witness a speck of the Aurora Borealis. At the turn of the so called Polar Days, there was just so much to experience in this part of Siberia that is not present during any period in the calendar.
Getting to enjoy every second of this once in a lifetime experience needed to be influenced by a lot of factors. While discomfort was a common sight due to the freezing cold, there was one brilliant way to get around the chilliest temperature on earth — Mickeymouse Boots.
I am glad I took a no compromise approach in choosing the stuff that I had to bring to the trip. There was so much to see and feel during the trip that fidgeting and hiding underneath the thick insulated sleeping bags would have cost me half of my life. Glad there were Mickeymouse Boots that evidently warded off these kill joy encounters.
Being out there to confront the icy temperatures is the only way to live through the entire experience. The reindeer sledding and actually being put through the real life of a Siberian Nomad were the few favorites which surely make memories of a lifetime.
